Well i just picked up a Z6 for $250 with ecu to replace my B7 in my daily driver. I took the motor home and was cleaning it up and replacing some gaskets and when i took the oil pan off i noticed that at the bottom of cylinders there seems to be a slight ridge, like the pistons have worn the sleeves and made this weird ridge. So i pulled the gurdle off to check the crank and rod bearings and there was some decent wear on them, so my question is, is the ridge on the cylinders anything to worrry about? i will post some pics tomorrow morning. Thanks

lol....:TU: Unfortunately when you buy old engines with mileage on them, or if they were abused, you will see those ridges, but usually at the top of the cylinders. Reason I asked if you had done a compression check or leakdown test before you tore into it was, if it still had decent compression (135psi being the service limit) I would've just thrown it in and drove it till she died. Now you're gonna have to replace the bearings, have the crank and rods inspected, and if the crank is junk, find another good one, and since you've seen the cylinder wall ridges, you won't be able to sleep until you get it bored oversized and put in new pistons and rings. All of this will cost you way over the amount it woud've cost to just buy a warranteed engine from honda motors online or something. But as long as you've torn into it, might as well do it right and get the head work, high compression pistons, cam, springs, retainers, IM, clutch, pp, exhaust and a full tune.....

Haha, thanks for the help guys, i dont think im going to get that involved with it, i think i just may do the bearings and slap it back together and hope for the best.
As for the compression test, i didnt do it be4 i tore into it, but when i crank it over with a ratchet, the compression feels good. I also have a spare Z6 totally in pieces that is hopefully waiting for a vitara build but if i have to take the crank of something from it i will.
So do you think those ridges are something to worry about? is the rest of the cylinder ok? Thanks.

only a compression test/leakdown test will tell you if the cylinders and rings are okay. Those ridges are formed over thousands of miles of the rings loading and unloading against the cylinder walls, so if the ridges are really tall, I'd say the motor has high mileage, or it's been driven hard. I'd say do what you're gonna do, slap it back together and drive her tell she's done...lol Then, tear her apart and make her purr:TU:
